Fruit Juice can help you! *gasp!*

It seems that from reading some comments about an article showing that fruit juice blocks some medications from working properly in the human body, people use this as an excuse to bash the pharma companies. While I agree that the pharma companies are probably out to make a buck, in our capitalist society, I would venture a guess that drugs would be slow(er) to develop if they were not pursued by companies. One comment alludes that most drugs are 'poisons that the drug companies hope will kill off the offending organisms before it kills the patient'. This is largely true, but often these drus cause little to no adverse effects to the person. Hence why there are sometimes 'side effects' and sometimes some medications are not right for some people. Having a chronic medical condition (diabetes), these drugs keep me alive. One such medicine, a common one, Insulin, which is a human hormone, is produced using e.coli bacteria. Another common medication, Pennicillin, is mold. There are myriad others. Some medicines are even created from stuff that is not a poison. I think people should be less quick to criticize, and be grateful for the things that modern medicine has given us.

Check out the article comments here.

And yes, fruit juice is good for you anyway :)
